I have been working at this writing thing for a while, and by no means do I think that I do not have a lot more to learn about the process. But it was a huge boost to my writing confidence to have submitted a story for the anthology Señor 105 & The Elements of Danger and learn that it was accepted.
For those of you who do not know, Señor 105 is a masked Mexican wrestler and adventurer, who battles evil with his sidekick and friend, Sheila. To quote anthology editor (and creator of Señor 105) Cody Quijano-Schell:
Every wrestler has his gimmick. Señor 105’s trademark is that he has one mask for every element on the periodic table; from the most ancient (gold and lead), right up to the modern day (Modern day to him being 1970). In fact, his best friend, the lovely Parisian named Sheila, is herself a sentient mass of Helium atoms.
Like the Mexican wrestling movies of the 50s, 60s and 70s, Señor 105’s adventures pull from all genres: Alien Invasion, Surreal Drug-trip Biogs, B-Movie Horror, Japanese Kaiju Monster movies, and more.
With a quirky series concept like that, I couldn’t resist. And thus, my story “Anti-Element” came to be and will be a part of the collection when it debuts in September.
I also continue to write reviews for pop culture site Shiny Shelf. Admittedly, I had fallen behind on my reviews. I only have myself to blame; a combination of taking on too many items at one shot plus a renewed bout of depression kept me from completing these reviews in a timely manner. I’ve worked to turn it around recently, and the following reviews have been published at Shiny Shelf:
And more will be coming.
I am still plugging away at the self-publishing side of things. I have four eBooks available (three are free, and one, The Fear, is available for $1.99), with links provided in the sidebar under the “My Writing” banner. I have plans for a fifth eBook (featuring Palequus and Peter from my story “Unnatural Time”) but I have kept pushing back work on this due to time constraints and other excuses. Oddly enough, the cover artwork for that story is already done, by Kim Woo (who also did the cover artwork to “Unnatural Time”). Hopefully I’ll have more to say about it in the weeks to come.
Also, the Wannabe Knight site was kind enough to take time and review my short stories “I Am Become Death” and “The Scream”.
I think that’s it for now. I’ll just slowly back away from the keyboard…
Congrats on the anthology! It sounds like a really fun project.
Also, I’m excited to see there will be more to read of Palequus and Peter. I just finished “Unnatural Time” today and I wanted to read more about them! Keep writing please! (I’m steadily making my way through “The Fear”… so intrigued!)
Oh, and thanks for the mention. =)

Thanks for the encouragement! I’m glad that you liked Palequus and Peter, and don’t worry, I plan on doing stories featuring them as long as I can. 🙂
And you’re very welcome!
